Manipur security meeting: Vigil to be stepped up in vulnerable areas

IMPHAL, Dec 1: Security and police forces would be deployed at all vulnerable areas both in towns and rural areas of Manipur following stepped-up activities by unlawful organisations, official sources said on Sunday, reports PTI. BSF springs Manipur success story

Imphal, Nov. 30: The BSF, which has been in the forefront of counter-insurgency operations in Manipur, today said it had ?re-established? civil administration in Churachandpur and Bishenpur districts, where its troops are currently deployed.

The BSF was deployed in the state in 2000 primarily to counter insurgency in two districts following the withdrawal of army troops due to the Kargil conflict.

Initially, there were only six battalions, but two additional battalions were later deployed.

Government working on rehab package for surrendered UGs: Ibobi

Imphal, July 15: Chief Minister O Ibobi who also holds the Home portfolio today informed the Assembly that the Government is working overtime to chart out a rehabilitation scheme for surrendered militants. Police killed 27 UGs, held 280 during this year in Manipur

Imphal, July 11: The state security forces killed 27 UG activists, and arrested 280, out of which 49 of them were booked under NSA during the first half of the year. This was revealed by the police brass at an interaction with the press at the 1st MR Banquet Hall this evening.
