Nagaland seeks external aid for construction

KOHIMA, July 3 ? The Nagaland government has approached the Centre seeking clearance to acquire aid from agencies like Nippon Foundation of Japan and UK-based War Veterans Society to construct its proposed World War-II museum near the capital town of Kohima. State Minister for Arts and Culture John Lotha said his department had already acquired 32 acres of land for construction of the museum between Phesama and Kigwema beside NH-39. Assam ignored expert panel's recommendations on forests

Though the expert committee on identification of forest areas, formed as per the directive of the Supreme Court, had expressed concern at the depletion of the forest cover and recommended finalisation of a forestry action plan way back in 1997, the State Government failed to act on time to save the forest cover.
