Centre to procure 64,000 AK-47 assault rifles

NEW DELHI, Jan 28 ? Insurgents fighting the security forces may soon have a tough time, with the Union Government planning to procure 64,000 AK-47 assault rifles. The global tenders for the same has been floated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

This was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister, L K Advani at the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee here yesterday. In addition, the MHA is also incurring an expenditure of Rs 647 crore for strengthening the air power of the Central paramilitary forces.

NSCN-IM leader murdered

Kohima, Jan. 29: A senior member of the National Socialist Council Of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah)?s tatar (council), Tevodeho Tetso, was abducted and killed by unidentified persons yesterday. In a bitter reaction, the NSCN (I-M) immediately put the blame on its rival, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) for the killing.

Tetso?s body was recovered near Rusoma village, 10 km from Kohima, this morning. He was abducted by unidentified gunmen from near the Kohima High School junction on Monday.

DHD demands Dimapur for 'Dimaraji'

Guwahati, Jan. 29: In a move sure to raise the hackles of the NSCN (I-M), the Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) has launched a campaign to garner support for the inclusion of Dimapur in the separate ?Dimaraji state? demanded by the outfit.
