Lapang to arrest Garo Hills militancy via economic package

TURA, April 16 – The Meghalaya Chief Minister, DD Lapang, has taken the initiative to end militancy in the Garo Hills by bringing with a him his government’s economic package to give relief to the militancy affected people of Garo Hills. Lapang made his maiden visit as Chief Minister to visit Tura and Williamnagar on April 14 and 15 where he unveiled a massive economic package for the three districts of Garo Hills. Plan to involve locals for Kaziranga development

No fresh incidents of violence in NC Hills

GUWAHATI, April 16 – No fresh incident of violence has been reported from any part of the ethnic riot hit North Cachar Hills and Cachar districts in the last 72 hours, said the Inspector Geneal of Police (Special Branch) Sri Khagen Sharma. Talking to this correspondent here this evening, Sri Sharma said that additional forces – two companies to Cachar district and four companies to NC Hills were rushed to bring normalcy.
