NDFB charge on carnage

Guwahati, April 16: The banned National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) today alleged that the recent abduction of three activists of the Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) and the subsequent killing of 28 Dimasas were the handiwork of “Indian intelligence agencies”.

The NDFB, however, refrained from naming any outfit and urged the “kidnappers” to release the DHD militants without any condition. Agartala, April 16: He is the “son of a coronated king”, to say the least, but in Bangladesh, he is known only as chief of his tribal subjects, the Chakmas.

Ibobi dispels threat fears

Imphal, April 16: Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, on a roller-coaster ride to keep his flock together, has sought to dispel fears among his loyalists about a possible change of leadership. Ibobi Singh announced that there was no threat to the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) ministry in the state.

Doner pep pill for sick units

New Delhi, April 16: Loss-making public sector units under the department for development of the northeastern region (Doner) could soon be put through a stringent reform process to transform them into financially viable enterprises.

The units that are suffering losses include the Northeastern Regional Agriculture Marketing Corporation, Northeastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation and the Sikkim Mining Corporation.
