Sangma?s link with ANVC proved: Lapang

SHILLONG, Feb 6 ? Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang on Thursday alleged that the NCP leader P A Sangma's link with militants has now been proved with the banned Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) openly backing him in the coming Lok Sabha polls reports PTI.

The issue of Sangma playing the facilitator between the outfit and the Centre had led to acrimony last year with Lapang terming it as 'unauthorised' and welcoming any individual or organisation if their proposals came through the government.

AGP central executive yet to be finalised

GUWAHATI, Feb 6 - The list of the regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) central executive committee members is yet to be finalised. The constitution of the party has provided for a central executive committee of 106 members. The latest Tezpur conference of the party had authorised party president Brindaban Goswami to constitute the executive committee.

SHILLONG, Feb 6 ? Eminent musician Bhupen Hazarika's famous Bengali composition Manush manusheri janya (man is for mankind) was selected as the 'best song of the millennium by the BBC Bengali service, reports PTI.

This was announced by the singer himself, a Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, here today saying he got a telephone call to this effect on the first January this year from BBC. War artefacts lie beneath Kohima house

Kohima, Feb. 6: The discovery of World War II relics within a residential complex in this capital town has excited historians and archaeologists alike. Lanu Longkumer, an electrician at a government poultry farm here, found an exquisite glass and a spoon with Japanese markings beside the skeleton of a Japanese soldier, buried beneath what has been the veranda of a house at veterinary Compound for 26 years.
