US top gun for more Indo-Bangla border trade

AGARTALA, May 27 – Recognising the need to enhance border trade between India and Bangladesh, US Consul General in Kolkata George N Sibley has said a transit route through Bangladesh, connecting Tripura with Kolkata, should be worked out to explore “untapped resources” of the northeastern State, reports PTI.

AHRC pulls up Army for atrocities

GUWAHATI, May 27 – The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has pulled up the Army over the atrocities committed on innocent people including some office-bearers of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) in Nalbari district and deputed a team of the Commission headed by its SP (Investigation) for an on-the-spot report. BSF hands over fresh list of ultra camps in Bangla

SHILLONG, May 27 – The Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over a list of 210 North East militant hide-outs in Bangladesh to the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) urging the latter to initiate operations against the ultras.

The border force has also agreed to conduct joint operations with the BDR in India, if similar camps of terrorist outfits of the neighbouring country existed on this side of the border. The BDR has claimed that Bangladeshi militants have set up camps in the north eastern region of India, specially in the State of Tripura.
