AIDS menace looms large in Nagaland

KOHIMA, Jan 30 ? Incidence of HIV infection among intravenous drug users (IVDU) has registered a declining trend but the ante-natal cases and the spread of the dreaded disease through sex is on the rise in Nagaland, the sixth most-affected state by HIV/AIDS in the country. The incidence of HIV infection among drug users appears to be reducing due to greater awareness and targeted intervention projects carried out by NGOs and Nagaland AIDS Control Society, state chapter of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) for the past couple of years, according to official sources here.

Angami woman runs shelter for children orphaned in clashes

Kohima, Jan. 17: She has been mother, friend, philosopher and guide to no less than 600 children over a span of nearly 30 years. And all she wants is a special day when the world will remember these orphans.

Kohima, Jan. 3: From slippers to soaps and tubelights, goods made in Myanmar are flooding the markets of Nagaland, pushing Indian products off the racks and reducing the government’s earnings from sales tax. Nagaland seeks external aid for construction

KOHIMA, July 3 ? The Nagaland government has approached the Centre seeking clearance to acquire aid from agencies like Nippon Foundation of Japan and UK-based War Veterans Society to construct its proposed World War-II museum near the capital town of Kohima.
