SHILLONG, March 2: Police made a breakthrough arresting an Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) militant who confessed that the outfit had attacked the BSF patrol party on February 22 killing two of its jawans in south Garo hills, reports UNI. Assam Rifles to be expanded

NEW DELHI, March 3: Assam Rifles will be expanded to take some pressure off the Army, heavily involved in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Northeast. A decision has been taken to raise about six battalions of the Assam Rifles, and the raising is already in process, Army officials said. CRPF activities in Tripura under cloud

AGARTALA, March 3: The performance of the Central Reserve Police Force in counter-insurgency operations in Tripura leaves a lot to be desired. This is evident from the ambush carried out by the National Liberation Front of Twipra this morning. Altogether 11 CRPF jawans, including two drivers, were gunned down by the rebels in the ambush.
