Probe indicts police officials in Manipur

Imphal, March 05: The preliminary departmental inquiry instituted to probe the last minute recruitment cancellation of police and MR personnel in the State Police Department in 1999-200 has indicted a number of police officials including Inspectors and Sis. Three doctors of the Police Department also figure in the list of indicted persons. The recruitment order of 49 police and MR personnel were cancelled just on the eve of the passing out parade on the ground that they do not measure upto the requisite height. CAG detects Rs 15 cr revenue loss in Assam Forest deptt

GUWAHATI, March 4 ? The Comptroller and Auditor General of India has detected loss of revenue amounting to Rs 15.14 crore in 72 cases in the Forest Department in the year 2000-2001. Locational restrictions in Industrial policy: Centre rejects FINER demands

NEW DELHI, March 4 ? In a development that may have an adverse impact on industrial development of the North East, the Union Finance Ministry has rejected the demand for removing the locational restrictions introduced in the special industrial policy drawn up for the region. The plea for removal of the locational restrictions was made by the Federation of Industries and Commerce of the North Eastern Region (FINER) in a memorandum to the Central Government.
