UDP rejoins Meghalaya Govt, Cong in lurch

SHILLONG, March 18 ? In a queer twist to the unstable politics in Meghalaya, the main Opposition United Democratic Party which was recently ousted from power, rejoined the government, raising the strength of the ruling coalition to 56 in a house of 60. The Congress, which is a major coalition partner in the People?s Forum of Meghalaya (PFM), received a big jolt as eight ministers belonging to the party were dropped from the Ministry headed by F A Khonglam.

GUWAHATI, March 18 ? At least eight militants were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Nalbari, Dhubri and Kokrajhar during the last 24 hours. The Indian Airlines and Alliance Air have revised air fares in the Northeast sectors ranging between 10 to 15 per cent with effect from February 15, Civil Aviation Minister, Shahnawaz Hussain said this here today. Digboi refinery victim of Centre's apathy
