Eviction drive in Kaziranga

GUWAHATI, May 29 ? Authorities of Kaziranga National Park (KNP) started eviction drive to root out encroachers from the park as part of the statewide drive launched by the Forest Department in compliance with Supreme Court directive. Sources in KNP informed that the eviction drive was launched in the sixth addition of the National Park since yesterday in Maite and Keteng chaporis (riverine landmass) and so far 24 cattleshed have been evicted. The eviction drive will continue till the KNP in made free of all sorts of encroachers.

DAA extended by 1 yr in Manipur, DPP laments

Imphal, May 29: Bellying all expectations, the State Cabinet today extended the enforcement of the controversial Disturbed Area status under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 in Manipur by one more year. 2,200 hectares govt land encroached by Sonitpur TEs

BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 28 ? Vast areas of government lands have remained under encroachment of the tea gardens in Sonitpur district which, if regularised, may earn huge revenues for the government.
