Five killed in ambush by DHD militants

GUWAHATI, June 24 ? Five persons were killed and seven others critically injured when suspected Dima Halong Daogah (DHD) militants ambushed a party of ONGC and CISF personnel near Dhansiri railway station in Karbi Anglong district around 3.30 pm today, police sources here said. A convoy of seven vehicles carrying personnel of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was returning from Dhansiri area to Diphu town when the DHD militants opened indiscriminate fire on the party. Moreh epidemic yet to be contained

Imphal, June 24: The outbreak of suspected malarial fever, typhoid fever and viral fever in Moreh area seems not to have been contained totally as the inflow of patients at the Moreh CHC is still continuing. Veteran freedom fighter, politician, writer and a leading jurist of the State Gaurishankar Bhattacharyya, who for his oratory skill and political acumen could command respect even from his political rivals during his heydays as a legislator, is no more. Action plan prepared to check NE ultras

NAGAON, June 23 : The Government of India has prepared an action plan for the North-east India to flush out the militants operating from different hideouts in the neighbouring countries.
