Violence, tear gas mar torch rally in Manipur

Imphal, January 16: The torch rally called by the United Committee Manipur took an ugly turn when thousands of people who came out braving the January chill turned violent at different points of the capital city today. Brahmaputra Beach Festival concludes

GUWAHATI, Jan 16 ? Heavy crowds continued to throng the Brahmaputra Beach Festival on its last day today. An estimated 40,000 people today visited Andheri Dhuli a 2.5 km stretch of silvery sand in the midst of the mighty Brahmaputra, the venue of the four-day-long festival organised by the Assam Boat Racing and Rowing Association. Raw deal for Arunachal artisans

New Delhi, Jan. 15: The famed artisans and weavers of Arunachal Pradesh are fast losing their silken touch as the “lopsided” policy of the state government is pushing the handicrafts and handloom industry to the brink of a shutdown.
