Rally in protest over dam construction

IMPHAL, Jan 23 ? A huge rally across Tamenglong district of Manipur would be taken out tomorrow to protest against the proposed construction of multi-crore Tipaimukh dam at the trijunction of Manipur, Mizoram and Assam, Committee Against Tipaimukh Dam (CATD) said today, reports PTI.

The CATD said in a statement that rally, public meetings and processions would be organised in the district to protest against the proposed dam for which a memorandum of understanding had been signed by the Manipur Government and North Eastern Electrical Power Corporation recently.

Birds fall prey to tea garden insecticide

A report of a large number of residential birds falling prey to insecticide at the Tilonijan tea estate in the Dibrugarh district has raised the heckles of nature watchers and wildlife enthusiasts.
