Bhutan raising militia to combat ULFA and NDFB, listing citizens

GUWAHATI, May 19: The Royal Government of Bhutan has called upon its nationals to voluntarily join a government militia force to fight and remove the ULFA, NDFB and Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) rebels operating from bases inside the tiny Himalayan kingdom, reports today said.

"When the security and sovereignty of our country is under threat, the true sons of the soil must step forward and not wait to be called upon to serve their country," Bhutan?s King Jigme Singhye Wangchuk was quoted as saying by Kuensel, the country?s national newspaper.

Tribals go global with organic tea

Tinsukia/Imphal, May 19: Organic tea produced by the Singpho tribesmen of Upper Assam and small growers in neighbouring Manipur is set to take the global market by storm.

World Community Development Education Society (WCDES), a Vancouver-based NGO, has joined hands with Singpho tea producers to produce and market organic tea in North America. The Manipur-based Foundation for Environment and Economic Services (FEEDS) has done likewise, signing agreements with three companies from Germany, Japan and the UK.

Bhutan to set up force to fight NE militants

NEW DELHI, May 19 ? Tripura outfits join hands in drive against non-tribal settlers

Agartala, May 18: Tripura police claim to have got wind of a plan by the banned All-Tripura Tiger Force and a faction of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) to drive out Bengali settlers from the state.
