Rift in Mizo party widens

Aizawl, Feb. 11: The rebel faction of the Mizoram People?s Conference (MPC) yesterday convened a meeting at a hotel here to discuss ways to overthrow the MPC president.

Sources said the faction, led by MPC vice-president Zairemthanga, formulated a plan to overthrow present president Lalhmingthanga during the party elections on February 25 and 26.

The faction also decided to put up former MLA Col. Lalchungnunga for the post of president, Kenneth Chawngliana as vice-president and Lalthanzauva Pudaite, retired IFS officer, as treasurer.

GUWAHATI, Feb 11? The meaning of the texts of the Kanaibarasibowa rock inscriptions at North Guwahati have been deciphered through epigraphic study. State Museum?s Assistant Curator Sarhajuddin Ahmed, who is a noted epigraphy expert, deciphered the meaning of the texts following formal requests from the Archaeology Directorate.

Sankar Sangha annual session under way

Onus on State Govt for release of funds

GUWAHATI, Feb 11 ? After a series of discussions and negotiations during the last one month, noted construction company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has agreed to take the responsibility of construction works of the stadiums for the forthcoming National Games to be organised by the State in November 2005.

L&T has taken up the works at a cost of Rs 139, 45, 66, 938, which is over Rs one crore lower than their lone opponent Nagarjuna. NNC revival bid with Wokha meet

Dimapur, Feb. 10: Sidelined for years after a faction of the Naga National Council signed the Shillong Accord in 1975, the oldest Naga underground organisation is trying to reinvent itself as a force to reckon with.
