Goswami puts seal on AGP go-it-alone stand

Dhubri, March 10: The AGP today did yet another somersault, ruling out sharing seats with any party in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in the state. Launching the party?s election campaign in Dhubri, party president Brindaban Goswami said the AGP would go it alone.

Goswami had earlier said the AGP would not go in for any alliance with any party but was open to seat-sharing with any like-minded party to prevent the Congress from winning.

Shillong, March 10: Four regional political parties of Meghalaya today floated the Regional Parties Alliance (RPA) and selected North Eastern Hill University mathematician S. Loniak Marbaniang as a consensus candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Digital home for physical maps

Guwahati, March 10: Carrying huge and voluminous maps will be a thing of the past as it will now be available on CDs. The Assam-Nagaland Geospatial Data Centre under Survey of India here is preparing digital maps of Assam and Nagaland, which will also be available for the common people.

?Students or researchers will not have to pore over entire maps for specific information. Now, they will be able to get a CD pertaining to their area of interest,? a source said. The maps will be prepared digitally on the world geodetic system, in other words, based on land survey.

Agartala, March 10: Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga?s efforts to bring six militant outfits to the negotiation table have triggered dissension in the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
