KOKRAJHAR, May 11 – Inspite of several landmark initiatives and the new policies and the boasts of the Department of Forests, Govt of Assam, destruction of forests throughout lower Assam is unabated and Kokrajhar district is not lagging behind. Power plant on green mission

Guwahati, May 10: The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has constituted a multi-disciplinary committee to oversee the implementation of environmental safeguards for the Lower Subansiri hydroelectric project. Ethnic jitters spurs rebel flushout plan

Dhubri/Kokrajhar, May 10: Security forces have launched a fresh operation to flush out militants of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) from the Mahamaya forest in Dhubri district. The forces have also tightened security in the Adivasi and Bodo-dominated areas of the Lower Assam districts where ethnic tension is brewing.
