Bamboo technology ‘mother park’ in NE

SHILLONG, JUNE 10- A bamboo technology ‘mother park’ will be set up in the North East to exploit the immense but untapped potential of the bamboo sector in the region. A memorandum of understand-ing(MoU) has been signed between the NEC-sponsored Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre(CTBC) and the Building Materials Technology Promotion Council(BMTPC), Ministry of Urban Development , Government of India to set up the mother park, NEC sources here said.

Mark Shand to be brand ambassador

Guwahati, June 9: Assam has roped in celebrated British travel writer Mark Shand as the international brand ambassador for the centenary celebrations of the Kaziranga National Park next year. Assam forest minister Pradyut Bordoloi said Shand have been selected with the objective of attracting as much global attention as possible for the celebrations which would be promoted as the “greatest conservation success story of the century”.

Meghalaya to modernise police force

SHILLONG, June 9 – The ruling Congress in Meghalaya has asked the 12th Finance Commission for a special assistance to modernise the State’s police force and creation of additional battalion of armed police to enforce law and order in the State.
