GUWAHATI, Feb 11 ?A meeting of about 2000 volunteers of Sanmilita Janagosthiya Sangram Samity (SJSS) held at Rangiya today denounced the creation of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and warned that creation of the council would pave way for spread of fratricidal clashes from Bodo areas to other areas in the State. Informing this, the SJSS convenor Brojen Mahanta renewed the threat to intensify agitation against the BTC creation stating that the BTC would be a step forwardtowards further disintegration of the State. Sri Mahanta said by granting BTC for Bodos in connivance with the BLT the Government of India and State Government had put the brake on the process of formation of the ?greater Assamese nation? through assimilation of all ethnic groups. All the SJSS volunteers including its leaders were today arrested by Rangiya police to prevent them from taking out a procession towards Tamulpur area. The volunteers gathered to launch an operation in Tamulpur to trace two of its kidnapped activists Mantu Das and Shyam Saran Das. Sri Mahanta alleged that the SJSS activists were abducted by the BLT way back on December 24 and had remained untraced till date. The SJSS had earlier set a deadline for today to the administration to rescue the kidnapped persons failing which it warned to launch search operation by its own volunteers.
