SHILLONG, April 12: The Union Minister of State for Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries, Vasundhara Raje has assured Meghalaya that she will take up with the Centre the extension of the incentives granted under the Central Industrial Policy for Northeastern States to the small-scale and agrobased industries irrespective of their location. At a meeting with the Meghalaya Industries Minister S Siangshai, on Wednesday the Union Minister responded favourably to the issues raised by the former. She further assured that she would take up with the Union Government other issues like the modification of the transport subsidy scheme and the problem of credit flow. Assuring that all the difficulties and problems faced by small-scale industries would be looked into an examined thoroughly, the Union Minister urged upon the entrepreneurs not to depend entirely on government subsidy but stand on their own feet. Raje also emphasised that entrepreneurs, financial institutions and the government as a whole should have a close working relationship amongst themselves for the development of the agrobased sector. Besides local entrepreneurs, the meeting was attended by senior government officials, representatives from various financial institutions and Union government organisations.
