NALBARI, February 7: The 27th session of the Bebak Rabha Khaurang Runchum (All Rabha Sahitya Sabha) held at Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Pathar of Tamulpur concluded on Monday after a four-day-long programme. On the concluding day the Bishnu Rabha pathar, the venue of the Sabha session turned into a sea of humanity as more than 15,000 people attended the Sabha session. The second open session of the 27th All Rabha Sahitya Sabha was held in the afternoon which was presided over by Jagat Kama, president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha. Addressing the meeting as chief guest, Rekha Rani Das Boro, Minister of State for Social Welfare said that the State Government has taken up various schemes for the solution of the burning problems of Rabhas. The minister stated that the greater Assamese culture should be developed through the development of the Rabha Sahitya and its rich culture. She further declared a grant of Rs one lakh to the All Rabha Sahitya Sabha for the completion of its office. It may be mentioned here that the Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was to attend the meeting but later he cancelled his programme due to some unavoidable circumstances. In a message sent to the Rabha Sahitya Sabha which was read out by Rekha Rani Das Boro in the open session, the Chief Minister admitted, "we have to develop the culture and literature of Rabha and other communities to develop the Assamese literature and culture. Comparing the different communities living in the State with the flowers of a garden, the Chief Minister stated that the garden will be more attractive if all the flowers blossom equally. Mahanta in his message further said that the State Government has finalised its process to demarcate the boundary of the Rabha Hajong Autonomous Council (RHAC) area. He also called upon the people to co-operate with the government's effort to tackle the insurgency of the State. The MP of the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency Sansuma Khungur Bwiswmutiary who also addressed in the open session as guest of honour has assured of providing all possible helps for the development of Rabha language and its folk culture.
