NSCN reciprocates KNF (MC)

Imphal, January 14: The NSCN (IM) has reciprocated the ceasefire declared by the KNF (MC). In a release Gen VS Atem (Retd), convenor NSCN Steering Committee said the NSCN acknowledged the declaration of unilateral ceasefire by the KNF (MC), saying any attempt to live at peace with the Nagas deserves applause. The NSCN deems this declaration as realization and recognition of reality and in appreciation reciprocates that all the cadres shall ceasefire with the KNF (MC) with immediate effect, he announced. In a separate release yesterday the NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the harassment and torture meted out to villagers of Chayang village, Chandel district by IRB personnel on January 7 following the bomb blast at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai. The release said that villagers were beaten mercilessly by the security personnel. Many had to be hospitalized while others refused to be admitted to hospital fearing repercussions from the IRB personnel, charged NSCN (IM). Such exercise committed on the innocent Naga people can only be an impediment to the peace process, said the statement.
