NSCN (K) to oppose ‘intruders’ in Naga issue

Imphal, July 11: The Khaplang faction of NSCN has denounced Th Muivah, NSCN (IM) leader and stated that a non-Naga should not be entrusted to solve the ongoing political crisis between the Nagas and the Government of India. In a release, the NSCN (K) stating that Th Muivah is a foreign national and the elder brother of Meiteis, maintaining that a non-Naga cannot solve the Naga problem. It charged Muivah and Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga, of being birds of the same feather who are striving for personal gains out of the tears of declaring that Tangkhuls do not have Naga citizenship and had hardly 10 years of association with the Nagas since 1990, the GPRN stated that the GoI must talk to the Nagas to solve the Indo-Naga political problem and not to a non-entity who does not even have Naga citizenship. If Muivah can be given responsibility for solving the Naga proble, a Naga should be given a chance to represent ULFA of Assam or UNLF of Manipur, it said. The NSCN (K) asserted that government of India should entrust the responsibility of solving the problem to a Naga is a real settlement is to be brought and to avoid newer problem. Any kind of agreement entered between the government of India and Muivah would be termed as ‘contradiction’ it said. If at all the Nagas wanted someone to assist the Naga in the political dialogue, Nagas would rather choose someone from the Indian bureaucrats who is well versed in the Naga problem, the release said. Alleging that Muivah is having a domestic problem with Meiteis, the NSCN (K) contended that the Tangkhuls were socially discriminated by their younger brother, the Meiteis because of religious differences. It further stated that the government of India must look into the territorial problems of the Nagas after getting the territory annexed ‘forcefully’ by the Tangkhuls in Jessami and other three to four areas in Chakheshang Naga village. The Nagas would risk anything to get their rightful land from the Tangkhuls, if not returned, it said.
