NSCN-IM threat to call off Isak, Muivah?s homecoming plans

DIMAPUR, Nov 15 ? The NSCN-IM has charged New Delhi of secretly arming its rivals to diminish its influence in Naga areas. The organization threatened to call off the planned visit of its top brass ? chairman Isak Chishi Swu and general sescretary Th. Muivah ? to India if New Delhi did not clarify why it was still continuing to arm and abet its arch rivals, the FGN and the NSCN-K.

Isak and Muivah are scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on November 28 and then to Nagaland sometime in the first week of December.

K Chawang, deputy kilonser of the outfit alleged, ?We have concrete evidence that the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) group was supplied with at least 80 self-loading rifles (standard light weapons issued to the Indian paramilitary forces), which are made in Indian Arms Ordnance Factory only. Chawang also alleged that the Government of India (GoI) was arming the NSCN-K and FGN factions to cause internal differences and bloodshed and keep the NSCN-IM under pressure during negotiations with it.

?The RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), IB (Intelligence Bureau) as well as the Military Intelligence (MI) are arming the NSCN-K and the FGN, that?s how they are fighting against the Naga people,? remarked Chawang. Calling on New Delhi to clarify why it was extending military assistance to its rivals when it was talking peace with his organization, Chawang retorted: ?How can there be solution? What solution can we expect when they are betraying the Naga people??

He said, ?The double standard policy of New Delhi could severely jeopardize the ongoing Naga peace process if it did not clarify the matter in public.?

The kilonser further accused the ?Indian armed forces? of providing security cover to NSCN-K leaders like Mulatonu from Kohima to Guwahati. ?From Kohima he is escorted to Guwahati from where he takes the flight to Delhi. There he is allowed to launch anti-NSCN-IM campaign. This shows that New Delhi is not helping the peace process,? he said.

These anti-NSCN-IM activities of New Delhi have prompted his organization to question the integrity and intent of the GoI as far as its approach to Naga peace talks was concerned, the kilonser said. Chawang also accused the two rival groups of working like mercenaries against the interests of the people.
