UDALGURI, Jan 22 – “The non-Bodos ,including those from the 18 organisations opposing the proposed Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), should not be afraid of or worry about it for the proposed BTC would not be only for the Bodos living in the proposed area but the interests of non-Bodos including their rights on land and other properties would be kept safe.” This was said by Rabiram Narzary, president of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) here at Udalguri in the largely-gathered open session of third biennial conference of All Assam Nepali Students’ Union as a guest of honour recently. Narzary clarified that since the Sixth Schedule of Indian Constitution cannot be implemented here directly as it is meant only for the single hills district, so all the provisions of the sixth schedule are to be amended first for the proposed BTC would be on the plains of the Brahmaputra valley with more than six new districts. Narzary appealed to all to co-operate with the ABSU and co-ordination committee of Bodoland Movement to bring the proposed BTC at the earliest.
