GORESWAR, Jan 22 ? ?The non-Bodos have no right to speak against the ongoing process of the formation of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), because the proposed BTC is not meant only for the Bodos but for all who are living inside the previous Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC) area,? said the president of the Kamrup District Committee of the All Bodo Students? Union (ABSU). Addressing the open session of the 15th annual conference of Goreswar Anchalik Committee unit of the All Bodo Students? Union held in the Bihu Ram Boro High School premises, Balabari recently, he said that the Bodos have the right to fight to safeguard their legitimate rights and for this purpose, the agitation launched by the Bodos, which had resulted in the martyrdom of 135 Bodos. The meet was presided over by Dipen Narzary, president, Goreswar Anchalik Committee of the ABSU.
Further, he said that the tribal belts and blocks meant for saving the lands of the tribal people in Assam had been created by the then Assam government during the reign of late Gopinath Bardoloi. Since then the non-Bodos have been living permanently in those tribal belts and blocks without any difficulty while it has directly infringed upon the rights of the tribal people as a whole, it is alleged. But Bodos are aboriginals of Assam and have been deprived from the so called constitutional privileges too including the tribal belts and blocks as well. He said that the government is now the main enemy of the ?Bodo? nation resulting in their feeling agonised over the dilly-dallying tactics applied by the State government in creation of BTC. He also flayed the mediapersons for publishing anti-BTC news.
