NE railway projects may suffer delay

NEW DELHI, April 2 ? All the railway projects in the North-east are likely to suffer indefinite delay on account of marginal allocation of funds, AGP MP and Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railway Ministry, Dr Arun Kumar Sarma said here today. The focus of the parliamentary standing committee that met today, was on the railway activities in the North-east and according to Dr Sarma the future of railway projects in the region is gloom. The other MP, Ranee Narah, who is a member of the parliamentary committee, did not show up. The meeting, attended by representatives of the finance ministry, Planning Commission, railway board members, and the Department for Development of North-east (DOBER) failed to convince the members that pending railway projects would be completed in time.
