Miscreants fire at Koijam’s house

IMPHAL, Jan 16 — In what could be termed as pre-poll violence in Manipur, the residence of the former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam was attacked by some unidentified armed youths on Monday evening. Sources said five unidentified armed youths who came in one Kinetic Honda and CBZ motorcycle, fired upon the residence of former Chief Minister and Samata Party State unit leader R B Koijam around 7.50 pm Monday night at Thangmeiband in Imphal West district. The security personnel posted at the residence of the former Chief Minister also reportedly fired two rounds towards the attackers, sources added. However, there is no report of any casuality during the incident. Police have recovered some empty cases of 9 mm and one Chinese-made handgrenade from the courtyard of the ex-CM’s residence. Five bullets hit the gate of the residence, while once each hit 2 scooters parked in side the courtyard.
