NEW DELHI, March 13: The Union Home Ministry has released about Rs 55 crore to five NE States to help them meet their expenses on various schemes, including reimbursement of security-related expenditure, reports PTI. While the ministry released Rs 81.34 lakh towards full payment to Pawan Hans Helicopter Limited for chopper operations in Jammu & Kashmir, it also released Rs 1.5 crore for issue of photo-identity cards for people living along the Line of Control and the international border, a Home Ministry spokesman said. An amount of Rs 39.08 crore was also released to J & K Government for implementation of Debt Relief Scheme for borrowers, he said. The ministry released Rs 62.5 lakh and Rs 54.64 lakh to Meghalaya as reimbursement of expenditure incurred on civil defence in 1997-98 and 1996-97 respectively, besides Rs 5.14 crore to Tamil Nadu as reimbursement of expenses on relief and rehabilitation of Lankan refugees. It also reimbursed Rs 1.42 crore to Arunachal Pradesh for introduction chopper services in the state and Rs 5.07 crore to Andhra Pradesh government in meeting expenses on functioning of agencies like FRRO connected with foreigners, the spokesman said.
