Kuki group claims responsibility for ambush

IMPHAL, May 29 ? Underground Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), which has ?close links? with NSCN (I-M), Wednesday claimed responsibility for the Monday last ambush in which 11 Assam Rifles personnel had been killed at Leplan area in Manipur?s Ukhrul district, reports PTI. A caller identified as one Rocky Kuki, information secretary of KRA, said its cadres had attacked and killed the Assam Rifles personnel. An Assam Rifles statement had earlier said they had suspected KRA and NSCN (I-M) to be behind the attack on the security forces. Meanwhile, three local organisations today strongly condemned the ambush in which eleven Assam Rifles personnel had been killed they said in a joint statement here. Three local organisations ? the Sanakeithel Village Authority, Shanao Long and Katamnago Long ? said the ambush had soured the cordial relationships between the villages and Assam Rifles.
