KRA refutes charges

Imphal, June 10: The Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) has strongly refuted the charges hurled by Kuki National Army (KNA) which was published in leading local dailies recently. A statement signed by information and publicity secretary Rocky Kuki pointed out that the Leplen ambush on AR personnel on April 27 "was in retaliation to the inhuman killings of its cadres by AR." It also accused one David Singson, "an informer of the AR" for the killings and maiming of its cadres. Commenting on the issue of KRA wresting Zaienphai village chiefship, it clarified that David Singson was never the chief of the village. Lamkhohen Hangshing has been legally declared as the chief of Zaienphai and that KRA has no nothing to do with it, the statement stressed. It denied the charges that some Kuki leaders are on their hit-list, it stated that the organization "upholds the spirit of unity and harmony in our society. It also asked KNA lo refrain from issuing such "baseless and misinformed charges" which could create serious misunderstanding between the two organizations.
