Imphal, December 13: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has categorically asked the NSCN (IM) to rein in KRA cadres who are in its camp and stop further occurrence of clash between KRA and UPDS militants in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. In an open letter to NSCN (I-M) chairman Isaac Swu, information and publicity secretary of KIM Ng Haokip Lhangsam said 'the cadres of KRA are our children but we have no control over them since they are at NSCN (IM) camp'. NSCN (IM) should stop the KRA cadres before it is too late. Otherwise, it should bear the responsibly for occurrence of further clash between the KRA and UPDS militants, the letter mentioned, while noting that the effect of the clash would also have its bearing on the ongoing peace talks between the NSCN (I-M) and Government of India. It further informed that Kuki leaders have discussed the pre-sent crisis at Karbi Anglong district of Assam on December 9 at Dimapur. During the discussion, Kuki leaders who have come from various NE States termed the brutal killings and razing of houses and properties as an outcome of the guerrilla rivalry between KRA and United People Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) and described it as very unfortunate. The secretary also asserted that the incident should not be conceived as Kuki-Karbi ethnic clashes as it is being portrayed in media. While taking serious note of Karbis' declaration of war against the Kukis, the Kuki leaders demanded withdrawal of the statement at the earliest as it would otherwise create misunderstanding between the two communities, the open letter said, adding that there is no hatred between the Kuki and Karbi people.
