IMPHAL, April 27: Chief Minster Radhabinod Koijam today informed the press that the Home Department has convened a high level meeting tomorrow at 4 pm to discuss the closure of Mission Schools in the valley following monetary demands from a militant group. The Chief Minister said that the meeting will discuss in detail the course of action that may be taken up by the Government. He also expressed confidence that the mater would be sorted out soon and the schools would resume normal classes. Meanwhile the All Manipur Catholic Schools (Valley) Teachers' Association has taken strong exception against the statement of the School Education Minister, N Nimai Singh that the state government is not in a position to do much in connection with the closure of mission schools. In a statement the teachers' body said the statement of the Minister is immature and bereft of any responsibility. The statement further said such irresponsible remarks expose the negative attitude of the political leadership towards the future of the student community and the travails of the teachers. Meanwhile, the St. Josephites' Parents Association has appealed to all the concerned and the school authorities to work out an amicable solution so that normal classes are resumed immediately. The parents' body in a statement said the decision to appeal for resumption of classes was taken during a meeting held today at the school premises.
