IMPHAL, Jan 19 — Suspected militants have set ablaze the residence of former Manipur Chief Minister W Nipamacha Singh and fired at the residence of former Union Minister Th Chaoba Singh in Manipur, official sources said today, reports PTI. Armed persons barged into the living room of Nipamacha Singh’s private residence at Wangoi area in Imphal West district late last night and set it on fire after holding up the family members at gun point. However, not much damage was reported as the fire service personnel reached the spot in time, the sources said. Singh was not in the house at the time of the incident, the sources said. In another incident, unknown gunmen opened several rounds of fire at the private residence of Th. Chaoba Singh, MP at Utlou, about 25 kms south of here yesterday, the sources said. No one was injured in the incident. After the announcement of elections in the State, unidentified gunmen had attacked the private houses of former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam and Congress candidates.
