BJP looking for ally to oust LF from Tripura

AGARTALA, May 12?The BJP is trying to find an electoral ally to oust the Left Front in the next Assembly elections. The process to find out an ally has already been put in the pipeline yesterday with a meeting among Trinamul Congress, Shiv Sena, Amara Bengali and Nagarik Mancha leaders in presence of two BJP top brass ? party?s national secretary, PB Acharya and newly-appointed central observer for Tripura V Satish. PB Acharya and V Satish, both arrived here on May 10 and held a meeting with the leaders of four non-left parties. The representatives attended the meeting were TMC chairman and former Chief Minister Sudhir Mazumdar, president of Tripura Nagarik Mancha Jiten Pal, general secretary of Shiv Sena, Supanta Sengupta, Amra Bangali leader Bhuban Bijoy Majumdar, Amara Bangali general secretary Keshav Majumdar and state BJP president Ronojoy Kumar Deb. ?All the leaders present in the meeting unanimously expressed deep concern at the State sponsored terrorism of the ruling CPI (M) led Left Front government and felt the need of a broad-based platform to oust the Marxists in the next Assembly elections,? said the visiting leaders. They were addressing a press conference here in Agartala. T he BJP national secretary said his party demands the election of the State assembly be held only after intensive correction and revision of the electoral roll, which has been inflated deliberately with bogus voters names?. He added that many genuine voters had been excluded from the list. Acharya identified infiltration, terrorism and corruption in the government as the main reasons behind the poor development of this State. ?Centre has total 16 development projects for North Eastern States including Tripura. But the State government misused the funds, spent the money for party welfare,? Acharya alleged. The national secretary also indicated that the party would meet the Election Commission in Delhi soon over the issue of tampering with the voterlist. He said his party will demand a chargesheet regarding the syphoning off the money from PMRY, Indira Awas Yojana and other development schemes in this State. On Congress demand for President?s Rule in the State, Acharya said, only if the Congress MPs support the demand in Parliament, the NDA government consider Central intervention. ?So it all depends on how desperate is Congress about their demand of President?s Rule in Tripura.? Talking on State government?s demand on holding talks to the Bangladesh government over the militant base camps in the neighbouring country, Acharya said, this is a bilateral issue and better be left with New Delhi.
