Bira supporters dismayed by KYKL(O) threat

Imphal, February 03: Following the threat of the KYKL (O) against the MSCP candidate of Nambol constituency, Th Bira Singh and his workers in the ensuing 8th Assembly election, a public meeting was called today at the residence of the candidate to discuss the matter. According to a release, the meeting, in a resolution expressed disappointment over the outfit?s threat to the workers of the MSCP of the constituency asking them to distance themselves from the party by February 6. The release further maintained that the allegations made by the outfit against the candidate and his brother Th Chaoba, MP were baseless. It further stated that the Nupi Samaj and nisha band groups of the constituency condemned the physical assault on some villagers of Kakyai, Langpok and Louremba by some unknown youths who identified themselves as cadres of KYKL(O) warning them not to vote for MSCP and further questioned the outfit whether the unknown youths are real members of the party or impostors. Stating that the prohibition put by the outfit against Th Bira Singh is against the wishes of the majority of the people of the constituency, it has appealed to me outfit to withdraw the prohibition The meeting finally resolved to prevent strangers from entering the villages of the constituency from 6 pm, the release further said.
