IMPHAL, June 27?The bullet riddled body of kidnapped police officer Chanam Arunkumar Singh, has been found at Selmat village area in Manipur?s Churanchandpur district, official sources said today, reports PTI. Singh (36), a sub-Inspector of Churachandpur police station had been kidnapped by suspected militants of Kuki National Front (KNF) from Tuibon area near his office on July 21. His body which bore multiple bullet wounds was found half buried at Selmat village, about 50 km from here, yesterday, the sources said. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The motive behind the kidnapping and killing of the police officer was not yet known, the sources said, adding that he had been shot dead after torture. Reports received from the district said Police and India Reserve Police forces have intensified security operations in the district to track down the killers of Arunkumar Singh who belonged to Meitei community. Security in and around Churachandpur district headquarters has been beefed up as the killing of police officer may lead to misunderstanding between two communities, the reports said. Formed by some Kuki youths, KNF is an underground organisation which has been fighting for a separate State by dividing territories of Manipur, official reports said.
