80 per cent of Manipur's people for independence: PLA

Imphal, January 02: PLA 101 Bn commandant Dilip Leishemba has stated that people of the State do not want to live under the ?Indian colonial rule? as a survey conducted by the party shows that 80 percent of the people wants separation from India. Talking to reporters during the burning of two kgs of heroin powder, the biggest seizure of the Bn this year before villagers somewhere on the Indo-Myanmar border yesterday, he said that the RPF/PLA has been expanding ?liberated zones? day by day. Stating that the freedom struggle will certainly succeed one day, he said that nobody could stop them from making sacrifices for the motherland. Leishemba said that the 101 Bn seized three heroin smugglers and one fake currency racketeer at Borayangbi on august 11 this year. In the process, three cadres of the outfit lost their lives in a shootout with BSF. Out of the two kgs of heron, one kg was recovered from the residence of Usham Sanayai (Md) and son Tomba at Borayangbi. The other was seized from Usham Iboyaima of same locality. Two fake currency racketeers were also nabbed on the same day. The due revealed that the fake currencies were used in buying drugs, he added. The encounter took place at Dampi village when they were taking the five persons. The BSF also suffered injuries but took away three weapons from them. Another important functionary of the outfit?s publicity department said drugs have become the bane of the State youths. He reminded that STAFORCE was set up in 1996 to combat the menace of drugs in the society. He said PLA/RPF is not a terrorist organization but has only been working to redeem State?s land from India which was annexed on October 15, 1949. The party is the fourth revolutionary group which agreed to abide by the Common Article of the Geneva Convention. Later, a two minute silence was observed in honour of three cadres killed in the Dampi village.
